ABOUT THE ARTIST

Bold & dynamic contemporary Artist Noemi Safir was born in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1971. At the age of two Noemi moved to Tel Aviv, Israel where she resides and works today.

After studying at the Institute of Art, Bat-Yam, Israel, it was not until the ripe age of 40 that Safir rediscovered herself and committed to her journey as a prolific painter. It is her colourful life journey through many different paths and challenges that has bought her to where she is today as an iconic painter who seeks to touch people's heart with her art and tell her story.

“My great vision is to touch people's heart with my art and my story. Everything that I create is a reflection of myself and my long road of knowing and learning more about who we really are” - Noemi Safir

Her large vibrant portrait and landscape paintings created with block colour form powerful and vibrant works of art echoing that of pop culture. Inspired by the urban cityscape of her hometown Tel Aviv and the emotive power of her female subjects, Noemi’s paintings explore themes of desire, power and independence. Primarily working in acrylic, Noemi depicts her subjects with her rich and colourful palette. Noemi’s expressive approach transcends any one style, and instead she combines elements of realism with abstraction to create art that is driven by emotion.

Over the past decade, Noemi has participated in numerous international exhibitions across the globe, spanning from Hong Kong, Singapore to New York, Miami, San Francisco and beyond. Noemi’s prolific approach and contribution to the art world has given way to a number of touring solo shows and group exhibitions internationally. Noemi’s iconic ‘Faces of Beauty’ series which has gained her a huge international following emerged in 2014, comprising of an extensive collection of individual and group portraits, vast in colour and scale, the majority of these paintings focused on female faces. With poetic titles complimenting the emotions of the works themselves, this collection has become a pinnacle of the power and impact of Noemi’s artistic style.

“My goal is to inspire and empower other women to follow their dreams, to have a passionate vision, to believe in their selves.” - Noemi Safir

Artist Statement

“The ability to inspire someone else through my art, to feel excitement and bring joyful colors to their home and heart (literally) gives me great happiness and satisfaction. Looking back, I suppose that the desire to be seen and understood as I am had a great influence on my way.

I love to paint urban landscapes and figures, especially women, in the form of large scale paintings. Most of the women figures are a reflection of myself that depict scenes from my life that led me to where I am today, conveying power and desire and having a wide range of emotions. They embody my struggle to accept my own independence as a woman, as an artist, without any apologies or doubts.”
