artist statement and inspiration

My painting, Texas BBQ, is a celebration of the joy and beauty of human connection.

The fluid, organic shapes within the composition evoke the mesmerising movement like a Lava Lamp, while the interplay of forms, colours, and lines create a cohesive and unified whole.

The earthy tones of the landscape and the blue sky represent people gathering to experience an outdoor party or picnic, where real life stories are exchanged, and a sense of community is fostered.

Through Texas BBQ, I aim to capture the essence of human relationships, and the importance of coming together to share in the ups and downs of life.

This stunning original artwork on canvas is from the Lara’s latest body of work created this year. The work captures the life force that bubbles and bursts invisibly all around us, and burns just as brightly in our body and minds even as we sit still; especially as we sit still. Celebrating our creative energy Lara’s paintings are a reminder that renewal is a constant available to all of us. Her signature organic motifs are conjured into shape with rope and other natural materials and rendered in swirls of ink up to 40 layers deep.
