artist statement and inspiration

"My Jitterbug Mini’s are designed to be installed in multiples; however, each work is visually developed, strong and striking and will create an impact as a standalone work.

Featuring organic forms and fluid shapes, my works are inspired by memory, meditation, music and the culture and essence of Australia.

My Jitterbug Mini series feature natural forms in Australian bush colours which deliver warmth and toastiness to the viewer. A space for you, the viewer, to engage with this spectrum of energy that then provokes conversation and thought. I hope that when viewing these works of energy, you are free to be transported to another state of mind."

This stunning original artwork on canvas is from the Lara’s ‘Vim Vitae’ Series created in 2020. This current body of work captures the life force that bubbles and bursts invisibly all around us, and burns just as brightly in our body and minds even as we sit still; especially as we sit still. Celebrating our creative energy Lara’s paintings are a reminder that renewal is a constant available to all of us. Her signature organic motifs are conjured into shape with rope and other natural materials and rendered in swirls of ink up to 40 layers deep.
