artist statement and inspiration

My painting Give Me Some Skin is a celebration of the beauty found in human connection.

The luminous and organic shapes that dance effortlessly throughout the composition evoke the fluidity and harmony of a Lava Lamp, while the forms, colours, and lines morphing in and out of each other create a sense of cohesion and unity.

The painting portrays an intimate relationship between two people with soft pinks and skin colour hues referencing intertwining bodies.

Inviting the viewer to appreciate the power and warmth of human touch and the beauty that comes from merging two souls.

This stunning original artwork on canvas is from the Lara’s latest body of work created this year. The work captures the life force that bubbles and bursts invisibly all around us, and burns just as brightly in our body and minds even as we sit still; especially as we sit still. Celebrating our creative energy Lara’s paintings are a reminder that renewal is a constant available to all of us. Her signature organic motifs are conjured into shape with rope and other natural materials and rendered in swirls of ink up to 40 layers deep.
