artist statement and inspiration

My painting, Dallas Denim, is a tribute to the beauty of nature and the interconnectedness of human relationships within it.

The fluid and luminous shapes within the composition evoke the mesmerising movement of a Lava Lamp, while the interplay of forms, colours, and lines create a cohesive and unified whole.

The blue denim cotton and twill represent the hardworking people intertwined with the landscape, while the earth tones bring a sense of warmth and grounding to the piece.

This stunning original artwork on canvas is from the Lara’s latest body of work created this year. The work captures the life force that bubbles and bursts invisibly all around us, and burns just as brightly in our body and minds even as we sit still; especially as we sit still. Celebrating our creative energy Lara’s paintings are a reminder that renewal is a constant available to all of us. Her signature organic motifs are conjured into shape with rope and other natural materials and rendered in swirls of ink up to 40 layers deep.
